The mSwitch system is a Next Generation Network Softswitch system developed by Genew. It provides an open platform and standard interfaces to support interconnection not only to the traditional PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) but also to existing VoIP (Voice over IP) networks, and other third party systems.
In mSwitch, the SLR (Subscriber Location Register), the HLR (Home Location Register) and the VLR (Visited Location Register) are located on the call control layer. These are also the core equipment used to implement softswitch real-time logic. These systems perform functions such as authentication, authorization, address translation, route resolution and they also play an important role in terminal communication and interconnecting to other networks.
